The "Giant Penny"

The "Giant Penny", is a non-monetary 2 ounce copper replica round to tribute the famous 1909 cent piece. Designed and minted in 1909, the Lincoln cent was the first US coin to feature a real person. Meant to honor the former president for the 100th anniversary of his birth, this coin was a major milestone in US mintage. Also of note, are the three letters found at the bottom of the reverse image that read "VDB", which are the initials of Victor David Brenner, the medalist who designed this famous coin. What makes the "VDB Lincoln cent" so special is that shortly after its first mintage, the initials of the medalist were removed, making those coins with the three letters extremely rare.
